Congratulations! You’ve discovered the secret portal to John Waite’s über-geeky side.
In early May, John’s campaign manager went on vacation. While sipping a Roy Rogers on the beach and checking her e-mail, she noticed a massive spike in page views for the campaign website. She clicked over to Facebook to see her candidate posing in an eighty-pound blue robot suit designed by Spokane local Tony Malcolm.
“First of all, it’s not a robot suit!” John Waite said on the phone from Campaign HQ (which happens also to be a comic book shop). John had posed in a Starcraft 2 Terran Marine costume for National Free Comic Book Day, holding his campaign sign. Someone snapped a photo and posted it online. And the whole internet thought is was the awesomest thing ever.
John made the news in India. And in Hungary. And all over the geekosphere online — G4, icanhazcheesburger.com… all over.
